Queensday

Ph, Private

Today it is Queensday in the Netherlands. Together with a friend and my boyfriend we went to town. There were a lot of stages on which bands and deejays were performing. Orange is our national color, so most people were wearing something representing the Queen. We started with some pastries, visited the fleamarket, went to the park and ended our afternoon with kebab. Altogether a lovely day!

Of course I had way to many pictures to share with you, because of my trip to Lisbon.
But finally I made a decision, soooo, what are you looking at?
1. Lisboa from above, plane view.
2. The high-street in Lisboa, ending with a square, complete with statue, at the sea.
3. Palm tree, with some sort of rastafarin fruits, haha.
4. Streetview and Indian curry served on a beautiful metal plate/cup.
5. Beautiful house, with tiled Maria-Jesus picture on the facade.
6. Random, the great environment of Lisboa.
7. Today's lunch with the Dutch Vogue, which lay on my doormat when I came home.
8. I went to the hardware store with the boyfriend. He needed something which has to do with cables, I needed some materials for DIY jewelry. So soon I will show you something new I made, (I'm still doubting what to make though..)

NMBR Nine

A Dutch brand to remember is the leather and luxury goods making NMBR NINE. I adore their great tote bags as seen above. I also love their leather trousers and tops. Since 2011 they produce garments for women as well as leather accessories (iPad sleeves, bags, shoes). You can buy their goods online at Bylotte, Zenggi and Yarn Unit.

Lisboa Day 4

Ph, Private

Some pictures of Lisbon from the last few days. Today we had our flight back to Holland, so I'm at home again. During the days I've spent in the capital of Portugal, I've seen a lot of beautiful places, buildings and a lot more. Despite the bad weather, we had a great time.

Lisboa Day 3

Leather Jacket: Dept | Floral bomber: H&M Trend | Lace top: Vintage | Denim: DIY | Shoes: Deena&Ozzy | Sunnies: random

Like I told you before, the weather was awful yesterday. So I wasn't able to make some outfit shots. Today I made some, but I'm wearing clothes you've already seen, although in a new setting (since I don't have palm trees at home, haha).
We went to Belém, a district of Lisbon. In the morning we've visited the Torre de Belém (tower of Belém) and the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (monastery). We also went to the National Archaeological museum and the nearby church. During the afternoon we did some shopping, bought two pairs of sandals, and had some drinks. Tomorrow we will be heading to the airport, to catch our flight back to the Netherlands.

Today the weather was really awful. It was raining cats and dogs all day long. We went to a couple of museums, to keep ourselves busy. At night we ate Indian food, which was really delicious. Tomorrow we are going to do some shopping and maybe exploring another part of Lisboa.

DIY Denim Jacket

After,
Before, Bleaching Part

Ph, Private

The past week I have been working on a denim jacket. I had seen pictures of bleached denim, distressed denim and ombrè denim; so I was really in need of something of a look-a-like. I decided to bleach the bottom part of a vintage Levi's denim jacket, to create a sort of ombrè effect. I also damaged some parts of the jacket, especially a large part on the back.

How to do this yourself:
You'll need: Denim jacket, bleach, bucket, gloves, seam ripper, piece of denim, textile glue, scissors.

Bleach
1. Put your jacket in the bucket filled with water, before adding bleach, make sure your jacket is wet.
2. Add halve a bottle of bleach. (Make sure that only the parts - bottom part in my case - you want to bleach are in the water-bleach mixture.)
3. Leave it in for about 5 hours. After 4 hours I dunked the jacket a bit further into the bucket, to make the ombrè-effect more fluid.
4. If you're happy with the bleach effect, wash the jacket once.

Distressed
5. Make some horizontal cuts on the places you would like to have distressed.
6. Loosen up the fabric with a needle and remove the blue fibers, so the white horizontal fibers will be visible.
7. After doing so, loosen up the sides with a seam ripper to make it look more messy and vintage.
8. Glue a large piece of denim underneath, to make it more firm.

Have fun, more outfit pictures are coming on Monday!

Today was such a boring day, there was nothing to do in town. It's the time of the year that makes most people anxious to buy clothes. ''Am I going to buy a miniskirt and a tanktop or do I need to buy a knitted sweater..'' The weather isn't really cooperative these days, it was quite cold last week. It makes me even more excited about my trip to Lisbon coming week!

Maison Scotch

Maison Scotch, La femme selon Marie
One of my favorite brands is Maison Scotch. This is a Dutch brand, which is selling women's clothing.. They also sell men's clothing, known as Scotch & Soda. Around four years ago they started their feminine line, which contains a mix of boho, outerwear and streetstyle clothing. I would love to wear the look I created above, especially the leather-sleeved baseball jacket.
Are you with me? Buy their fabulous collection here.

Cinema

(My vintage blouse is full of cowboy boots, how cool is that?!)
Ph, Private

Yesterday my boyfriend and I went to the movie Intouchables. What a damn good movie that was! The story is actually really heavy, but the way the whole movie is put together softens it. I can recommend the movie to everyone, you should really go!
When I came home from school (studying at the train as you can see) we decided to go to town. Before we went to the cinema, we had some dinner in a small French inspired restaurant. Simple but nice.

Flea market

Ph, Private

Last weekend I went to my parents place. There were a music-event and flea market in town. Of course my boyfriend and I went, looking for some finds. We helped my mother with her stand and sold some stuff ourselves.

Next week I'll be going to Lisbon. I'm already thinking about what to pack, any suggestions? Or maybe tips for places/shops I definitely need to visit?

DIY Necklace

Ph, Private

Today I decided to make a tribal inspired necklace. I bought these beads a while ago and still hadn't decided where to use them for. Since I couldn't find a proper tribal statement necklace in stores, the decision to make one myself, was made quickly.

You'll need:
Chain, beads, closure (clasp, ring), eye pins and round nose pliers.
1. Measure the length of the chain to fit around your neck.
2. Add an extra piece of chain to make it less delicate.
3. Put beads on the eye pins and fold the end around the chain to attach it.
4. Add a second row of beads, attach them with rings.
5. Put the individual eye-pin-beads together in a triangular shape.

What are you looking at?
1. While working I made some pictures of all the bulk products in store. On the picture you can see a whole box filled with thin belts.
2. During Easter we ate a lot of food! This was the entree my boyfriend and I made: a bread sushi roll.
3. This is the window of an antique shop, I love the delicate white tops they're selling!
4. The main course, made by my boyfriends sister and her boyfriend. Delicious pasta with asparagus and pesto!
5. The dessert made by his brother and girlfriend. A lovely 'pancake pile' with pecans and honey-syrup.
6. Some shelves in my father's shed, I like the way how all the mess is crammed together into a small space.
